Freedive Central was founded in 2006 by Francisco Gautier and Paulo Nóbrega, two passionate Portuguese freedivers with a vision to bring something new to the community.

At the time, there was no platform for freediving competition organizers to post event results or for the public to follow real-time rankings/results. Freedive Central filled that gap, storing all results permanently and offering a comprehensive ranking system.

For years FC became the go-to platform for publishing and viewing competition results globally, where each athlete and organizer had a public profile showcasing their performances in various competitions.
